Valle de Ángeles (Valley of Angels)

A small and very picturesque village on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa, it has become a favorite place for capital city dwellers during the weekend. Just 30 km. away using an excellent road, its attractions attract foreigners, both residents and tourists. Weekdays, Valle de Angeles is a very quiet town, but is usually full of visitors on weekends. The Honduran Institute of Tourism has a recreation park near the town which is popular with the capital city dwellers, since it has great facilities for picnics. There is also a semi-Olympic pool and a cafeteria where you can buy refreshments and food. The park entrance fee is 10.00 LPS and an additional cost for using the pool. The park is located in the middle of lush pine forests, and although many visitors come on weekends, it offers an attractive alternative for weekdays, when there are fewer visitors. It is closed on Mondays.

Santa Lucía
It is one of the oldest municipalities in Honduras. Its first settlers were indigenous and named this place "Surcagua" which in Spanish means "Land of Frogs". According to records, there is historical data on this site dating back to the year 1500. This picturesque site has been known in our modern history for the exploitation of its rich silver mines and its main religious image "St. Lucia's Christ Lord of Mercy", a gift from King Philip II of Spain on January 15, 1572, who visited the town two years later. Santa Lucia was the name given by the Spanish colonizers, and on November 12, 1820, the town of Santa Lucia was founded.

Talgua Caves

Talgua is the name given to a village near the town of Catacamas, Olancho, one of 18 departments found in Honduras. In 1994, young explorers Jose Yanez and Desiderio Reyes led a group of friends to a cave known by locals near the village of Talgua. They explored a tunnel and discovered it contained a large amount of human remains and nearly two dozen intact vessels. Everything looked perfectly preserved and were covered with something that gave them a special sheen. This discovery marked the beginning of scientific research that is still ongoing.

La Tigra

La Tigra National Park is located northwest of Tegucigalpa covering an area of ??over 142.6 km full of protected wildlife and tropical rainforest, which in addition to generating 30% of the capital’s water supply, offers an ideal place for ecotourism. La Tigra has eight trails where visitors can walk and enjoy this mountain’s exceptional flora and fauna. This park also has two special visitor centers. One such center is in Jutiapa and has a rest area with restrooms. The other is the El Rosario Eco-lodge in the village of El Rosario, a former settlement of the El Rosario Mining Company. This is a modest mountain hotel that used to house the mining company's hospital in the 1900's, a mining company that mined silver and gold in the area. You can stay here and experience nature and the historic mining culture. The hotel also has everything you may require for camping in the mountains.
